Giant’s Castle WWI Look Out Station

Looking though the Isles of Scilly Museum’s photo archives today, we came across this early photograph and note about the lookout station at Giant’s Castle. It’s great to see what else was happening out at Giant’s Castle - and where the possible maze-making soldiers might have been working.

We went out to the spot where the photograph must have been taken from, to understand where this watch-house would have stood in the landscape, before it’s peacetime dismantling, to become a home for chickens at nearby Tremelethen Farm.
